  • First and probably last S Class

I owned two 7 series in a row and then I purchased my first S Class. I fell in love with the styling of the S Class and fell for the dealers boasting and jokes about BMW. Beautiful car with Ruby Black paint and the AMG package. Driving the vehicle I couldn't believe how soft and quiet the ride was. Then I took the car on the interstate. At high speeds (over 70 mph) the car felt really light on it's feet. Any large truck goes by or a gust of wind, the car really was pushed around. On the turnpike with many large radius turns the car was unstable. Only way to make the car stable was to always drive in sport mode or just slow down to 60mph. Unlike the 7 series, the S Class is a 9 speed transmission. I hated it. Even living in Florida, when going over an over pass or small hill the tranquility is interrupted by the vehicle shifting down. My 7 series with 8 speed never did that! The navigation system would routinely get lost and the car would keep repeating the same phrase over and over again while it searched for the signal. The fancy interior lighting started not working at times. The forward looking camera would also stop working at times for no reason disabling the associated driver assist systems. I couldn't believe this was the great S Class. Of course these failures would come and go, making getting them fixed by dealer a hassle. $116K and no heads up display or 4 zone climate control? I really felt like an idiot for falling for some colossal joke. The S Class is all pomp and fluff. Was very disappointed in this car from just about every angle. Couldn't imagine problems I was going to have in 3 years after the first 6 months of ownership. And I payed for it by turning in this vehicle after six months for a 750. No issues with that car or any previous 7 I've owned
  • Various items don’t work

Followed the owner’s manual verbatim to try to get certain basic items to work. 3 out of 9 items didn’t work. Bought this car about three weeks ago and am going to trade it in on a 7-series BMW. Had a 2016 E350 and wasn’t particularly impressed with the vehicle nor (especially) with any of the MB service depts. figured I would give MB a second chance and have been disappointed even for the basic items that one would expect from a vehicle less than half the cost.
  • After 8 Lexus, 3 BMW, first MB...WOW!!

This is my first Mercedes after many other luxury vehicles. The Lexus brand is super reclaimable but just so-so on the luxury side. BMW were not very good on reliability. Bought Hans (his name) as a CPO. 20,000 miles later this car is still amazing! So many comforts and high quality facets. Will say though the tires wear out super fast (18k miles) and needed a new set. Overall I love this car and will find it all but impossible to go back to the other brands. Well done MB!!
